LGR Series
Roller Linear Guideway
Cylindrical roller design for maximum rigidity and heavy load capacity. Line contact technology delivers superior stiffness for demanding CNC and robotic applications.
LGR Series Roller Linear Guideway
The LGR Series is Luoyang Songju's premium roller-type linear guideway, designed for applications demanding maximum rigidity, superior load capacity, and exceptional positioning accuracy. Unlike ball-type guideways that use point contact, LGR guideways employ cylindrical rollers in line contact with the raceway, distributing loads over a much larger contact area. This fundamental design difference delivers dramatically higher stiffness and load ratings -- making LGR the definitive choice for heavy-duty CNC machining centers, large-scale industrial automation, and precision robotic systems.
Each LGR guideway is manufactured from high-carbon bearing steel, induction-hardened and precision-ground to exacting geometric tolerances. The four-row cylindrical roller arrangement provides equal load capacity in all directions -- radial, reverse radial, and both lateral orientations -- simplifying machine design by eliminating the need for separate guidance elements. Advanced double-lip seals and end caps protect the roller circuits from contamination, while an integrated grease lubrication system with optional self-lubricator extends maintenance intervals in high-duty-cycle production environments. Interchangeable carriages and rails enable quick replacement without re-machining mounting surfaces, reducing machine downtime to an absolute minimum.

LGR (Roller) vs LGS (Ball)
Choosing the right guideway technology depends on your application's specific requirements for load capacity, rigidity, speed, and cost. The comparison below helps guide your selection.
| Characteristic | LGR (Roller Type) | LGS (Ball Type) |
|---|---|---|
| Rigidity | Very High -- line contact distributes force over larger area | High -- point contact at each ball interface |
| Load Capacity | Superior -- 1.5 to 3x higher than equivalent ball guideway | Good -- adequate for light to medium load applications |
| Maximum Speed | Moderate to High -- limited by roller recirculation dynamics | Very High -- ball recirculation enables higher traversing speeds |
| Friction | Slightly higher rolling resistance due to larger contact patch | Very Low -- minimal rolling friction for high-speed applications |
| Vibration Damping | Superior -- larger contact area absorbs more vibrational energy | Good -- lower mass but less inherent damping |
| Wear Resistance | Excellent -- lower contact pressure extends raceway life | Good -- higher contact stress under equivalent loads |
| Application | Heavy-duty CNC, machining centers, large robots, press brakes | General automation, pick-and-place, light CNC, measuring equipment |
Why Choose LGR Roller Guideways
The LGR Series is engineered for applications where standard ball guideways reach their performance limits. From heavy cutting forces to demanding positioning accuracy, LGR delivers.
Maximum Rigidity
Cylindrical roller design with line contact distributes loads across a larger area, providing up to 3x the rigidity of equivalent ball-type guideways for superior machining precision.
Superior Load Distribution
Line contact geometry spreads applied forces evenly across the roller length, reducing localized stress concentrations and extending raceway service life under heavy loads.
Four-Way Equal Load Rating
Identical load capacity in all four directions -- radial, reverse radial, and both lateral orientations -- simplifies machine design and ensures consistent performance under multi-axis loading.
Interchangeable Carriages & Rails
Precision-manufactured to strict tolerance bands, carriages and rails can be replaced individually without re-machining mounting surfaces, minimizing machine downtime.
Advanced Seal Design
Double-lip end seals and internal longitudinal seals prevent contamination ingress, protecting the roller circuits in harsh machining environments with coolant, chips, and abrasive dust.
Self-Lubrication Option
Optional integrated self-lubricator provides a continuous supply of fresh lubricant, dramatically extending maintenance intervals and ensuring optimal film thickness under all operating conditions.
Long Service Life
Lower contact pressure, superior contamination protection, and optimized lubrication combine to deliver exceptional service life even in the most demanding 24/7 production environments.
