Thrust Ball
Bearings
511 / 512 / 513 / 514 / 532 / 533 Series | 10–500mm Bore | Single & Double Direction
Purpose-designed for pure axial load applications. Separable three-piece construction — shaft washer, housing washer, and ball-cage assembly — enables independent mounting of each component. Available with flat or spherical back-face washers for static misalignment compensation. Trusted in machine tool spindles, rotary tables, vertical shaft arrangements, crane hooks, and lead screw support.
Thrust Ball Bearings for Axial Load Applications
Luoyang Songju thrust ball bearings are manufactured in six dimensional series — 511, 512, 513, 514, 532, and 533 — engineered for applications where the primary load is axial (thrust). Each bearing is manufactured from high-carbon chromium bearing steel GCr15 (100Cr6 / 52100) in our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility.
The separable three-piece design — consisting of a shaft washer, housing washer, and ball-cage assembly — allows each component to be mounted independently for simplified installation. This is especially valuable in applications where the shaft and housing are difficult to access simultaneously, or where the washers must be mounted with interference fits.
The 532 and 533 series incorporate spherical housing washers and aligning seat washers, enabling the bearing to compensate for static angular misalignment between the shaft and housing — a critical feature in applications where perfect perpendicularity cannot be guaranteed or where structural deflection occurs under load.
Single vs. Double Direction
Thrust ball bearings are available in two fundamental configurations. Single-direction bearings (511–514, 532–533) accept axial load in one direction only and are the most common type for general industrial applications. Double-direction bearings (522–524, 542–544) incorporate two rows of balls and can accommodate axial loads from both directions — ideal for reversing thrust applications, bidirectional lead screws, and vertical spindles subject to both upward and downward forces.

Six Series for Every Axial Load Requirement
From compact light-series 511 to heavy-duty 514 — select the right thrust ball bearing for your application requirements
511 Series
Single-direction, flat back-face. The most compact and economical thrust ball bearing series. Ideal for light to moderate axial loads in vertical shaft supports, steering columns, and general industrial machinery.
512 Series
Single-direction, flat back-face with larger cross-section than 511. Handles significantly higher axial loads for the same bore size. Widely used in machine tool spindle thrust blocks and rotary indexing tables.
513 Series
Single-direction, flat back-face with heavy cross-section. Designed for high axial loads in demanding industrial applications — crane hooks, heavy-duty vertical pumps, extruder thrust blocks, and forging press screws.
514 Series
Single-direction, flat back-face with maximum cross-section for the highest axial load capacity. Built for extreme thrust applications — large vertical boring mills, hydroelectric turbine thrust pads, and marine propeller shaft supports.
532 Series
Single-direction with spherical housing washer and aligning seat. Compensates for static angular misalignment between shaft and housing. Light-to-medium cross-section for applications where mounting precision cannot be guaranteed.
533 Series
Single-direction with spherical housing washer and heavy cross-section. Combines high axial load capacity with self-alignment capability — ideal for heavy-duty applications with potential misalignment such as large crane hooks and structural bearings.

Where Thrust Ball Bearings Excel
Any application where the primary load is axial — from precision machine tool spindles to heavy industrial lifting equipment
Machine Tool Spindles
Vertical milling spindles, drilling spindles, and boring mill quills where the spindle weight and cutting thrust create pure axial loading. 512 series widely specified for preloaded thrust blocks in CNC vertical machining centers.
Rotary Indexing Tables
Support the table weight and clamping thrust in CNC rotary tables and precision indexing mechanisms. Double-direction 522 series used where upward workpiece ejection forces must also be supported.
Lead Screw Support
Provide axial location for lead screws and ball screws in machine tool feed axes. Compact 511 series bearings at the screw end absorb thrust while allowing the screw to rotate freely. Ideal for manual and powered machine slides.
Crane Hooks & Hoists
Heavy-series 513 and 514 thrust bearings in crane hook assemblies, supporting the full lifted load. Spherical 533 series preferred where hook swivel alignment cannot be guaranteed under dynamic loading.
Vertical Pumps
Support the rotor weight and hydraulic thrust in vertical turbine pumps, deep-well pumps, and vertical mixed-flow pumps. 511 or 512 series selected based on impeller thrust calculations and pump head pressure.
Automotive Transmissions
Thrust washers and ball bearings in automatic transmission clutch packs and manual transmission gear stacks. Compact 511 series for light vehicle gearboxes; 512 series for heavy commercial vehicle transmissions.
Marine Propeller Shafts
Heavy-duty 514 series thrust bearings absorb propeller thrust in small-to-medium vessel drive trains. Stainless steel variants available for corrosion resistance in saltwater and bilge environments.
Extruders & Injection Molding
Absorb screw thrust in plastic extruders and injection molding machines. 513 series with heavy cross-section absorbs continuous axial loads during plastication and injection phases with minimal deflection.
Why Choose Our Thrust Ball Bearings
Engineered with key design features that distinguish precision thrust ball bearings for industrial applications
Separable Design
Shaft washer, housing washer, and ball-cage assembly mount independently. Simplifies installation in confined spaces. Each component can be fitted with the correct interference or clearance fit for optimal performance.
High Axial Capacity
Optimized internal geometry and ball complement maximize axial load rating. The line from light 511 to extra-heavy 514 series offers a 5× axial capacity range for the same bore size.
Self-Alignment Option
532 and 533 series with spherical housing washers absorb up to 3° of static angular misalignment — protecting the bearing from edge loading and premature failure when mounting surfaces are imperfect.
Double Direction Option
522/523/524 series with two ball rows accommodate reversing axial loads. Essential for bidirectional lead screws, vertical spindles with tool-change thrust reversal, and oscillating axial motion applications.
Stable at Speed
Pressed steel or machined brass cage guides balls precisely while maintaining low friction. Factory-applied preservative provides initial lubrication and corrosion protection during shipping and storage.
Premium Material
Rings and balls in GCr15 (100Cr6/52100) high-carbon chromium steel, through-hardened to 58–64 HRC. Dimensional stability heat treatment ensures consistent performance from -20°C to +120°C operating range.
